Warsaw, 20 April 2017 – As of July this year LOT will increase number of flights between Cluj-Napoca and Warsaw. This is airline’s respond to the continuesly growing number of passengers travelling onboard LOT’s aircraft to dozens destinations across the world.
Passenger traffic on Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport increased in the first quarter of 2017 by almost 60% over, compared with the same period of 2016. Thus, in January, February and March 2017 there were registered 516.953 passengers, compared with 324.096 passengers in Q1 2016.
Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport supports in 2017, again, the “School Otherwise” Program, giving to pupils the opportunity to know and to become familiar with the fascinating world of aviation.
On February and March 2017, 274 pupils and preschoolers belonged to 9 educational institutions from Cluj district visited Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport.
Today, the first of April, we celebrate, all together, 85 years since the Cluj Civil Airport was established, in 1932.
We succeeded all together - passengers, partners, airlines and management team, supported by the Cluj County Council, to make the Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport the second airport of the country and one of the main airports from Southeastern Europe.
From the 14th March to 16th March, in Amsterdam (Netherlands) it takes place one of the most prestigious international conferences regarding aviation, "Passenger Terminal EXPO & CONFERENCE 2017".
The event brings together top specialists in the aviation industry, governmental officials from aviation domain, airlines’ and companies’ officials and top managers of the most important airports.
Cluj-Napoca, 10 March 2017: Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania’s largest airline, celebrated today seven million passengers carried on its low-fare routes from Cluj-Napoca. WIZZ’s lucky 7 millionth passenger was travelling on the first flight from Bratislava to Cluj and was greeted upon arrival with a WIZZ return ticket.

A special flight landed on Saturday, December, the 17th, 2016, at Cluj "AvramIancu" International Airport, within the event “Santa Claus arrives at the Airport”. Avram Iancu, whose name also bears Cluj International Airport, was declared "Hero of the Romanian Nation". On Thursday, President Klaus Johannis promulgated a law that provides this title for whom fought for the freedom of the Romanians in Transylvania. The International Airport "Avram Iancu" Cluj bears this name since October, 2013.
