PRESS RELEASE: Tel Aviv destination returns to Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, operated by Wizz Air

Cluj-Napoca, 03.09.2026: Cluj International Airport, Cluj County Council and the airline Wizz Air bring good news regarding new travel opportunities for passengers and announce today the resumption of direct flights to Tel Aviv (Israel), starting from 7 September 2026.

Direct flights to Tel Aviv will be operated from Cluj International Airport with two frequencies per week, in the days of Monday and Friday, based on the following flight schedule:

Tel Aviv is a vibrant urban destination on the Mediterranean coast, where modernity blends with the city's history, culture and innovative spirit. Known for its Bauhaus architecture in The White City, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, for the historic district Jaffa, its vast beaches and cosmopolitan atmosphere, Tel Aviv offers a variety of experiences, from museums, art galleries and Mediterranean gastronomy to seaside relaxation and nightlife. Access is facilitated by Ben Gurion International Airport, located approximately 15–25 km from the city.

Mr. Alin Tișe, President of the Cluj County Council, conveyed on this occasion: "The resumption of direct flights Cluj-Napoca – Tel Aviv represents an important step for the connectivity and economic development of Cluj County. This route facilitates links between communities, supports tourism and the business environment and creates new opportunities for investment and trade. Cluj County Council will continue to support the development and modernization of the airport, as well as the expansion of air connectivity, so that our county remains an attractive destination for investment, tourism and economic development.”

Mr. Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj stated the following: "Cluj International Airport remains a development engine for the region and its efforts to increase the region's connectivity are today materialized by the resumption of flights to Tel Aviv and we appreciate the decision of the air operator Wizz Air to operate flights to this beloved destination. "

Mr. David Ciceo, General Manager of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj added: "The resumption of flights to Tel Aviv, starting from September 7, 2026, is a moment awaited by the passengers of Cluj International Airport, after a period of approximately six months in which this route was suspended in the context of the geopolitical situation in the region. Tel Aviv is a traditional destination from Cluj-Napoca, which completes the network of over 60 routes of the Cluj airport. We are convinced that the destination Tel Aviv and Israel as a country will continues to enjoy the appreciation of our passengers and those from all over Transylvania, given its uniqueness as an offer in the region.”

Currently, Wizz Air offers approximately 40 destinations from Cluj International Airport, but passengers have the option to choose for trips over 60 regular destinations, to approximately 25 countries from Europe and Middle East.

Note: Given the geopolitical context in the region, changes may occur in the operating schedule of this route in the coming period.

The resumption of route operation is scheduled for 7 September 2026, and the program can be adjusted depending on the conditions and circumstances existing at the time. Wizz Air airline will inform passengers in a timely manner about any changes or possible suspension of flights, through official communication channels.
